Fishing
On our SMP, we have a custom fishing plugin, which changes how fishing works.
Mechanically, fishing still works the same. Get a rod, right click to cast, wait for the bubbles, and right click to reel in.
The real difference arises when you recieve your catch! You'll notice a message pop up in chat, telling you the size of your catch, its rarity, and what you caught. This message is only visible to you, unless you catch something of Mythical rarity(?), in which case the message is visible to everyone on the server.
After you've caught something (even if it isn't a fish), it can be sold for money. Using the "/sellfish" command sells all fish in your inventory automatically (This command will show up red when you type it, but hit send anyway. It will most likely work!).
If you don't want to sell every fish in your inventory, instead use the "/fish" command (Same with this one, it might appear red, but try and send it anyway.). This command will bring up a menu where you can do a couple things!
- The "Toggle Custom Fish" option does what it says; it can switch back and forth between vanilla minecraft fishing, and our custom fishing!
- The "Open Fish Shop" option brings you to a place where you can select which "fish" you'd like to sell. Move the items from your inventory to the one in the menu, and select the leftmost "SELL" option, and then "CONFIRM SELL", to sell them. Optionally you can also sell all fish in your inventory using this menu, by instead selecting the rightmost "SELL ALL" button, and then of course using its respective "CONFIRM SELL ALL" button.
Note that anything caught using this plugin counts as a "fish" that can be sold. If it has the look of a custom fishing reward, including a rarity, size, and label declaring who caught it, it can be sold!
- The "Command Help" option is currently unavailable, as is the "Coming Soon" option, and "View Baits" option. The "View Baits" option can be selected, but baits have been disabled, so selecting it will reveal an empty menu.
To leave the /fish menu, select the "Exit" option at the bottom.
Strategy
The word "Strategy" is a bit misleading. I'm just here to tell you that this custom fishing can be a nice way of earning money early game! It's definitely not the quickest or most efficient, but it's easy money.
Fishing Contests
Every few hours(?) a fishing contest will occur! This is often a nice opportunity to take a break from whatever you're doing and try your hand at winning. It's rather luck based, as no fishing rod enchantments raise the chances of catching rarer fish, so even someone with an unenchanted fishing rod has a good shot.
I don't believe these reward anything, but feel free to replace this if they do!
